Beal available for Wizards vs. Knicks after 5-game absence originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Bradley Beal will make his return to the Wizards Wednesday night when they play the Knicks in Madison Square Garden following a five-game absence.

Beal was diagnosed with a left hamstring strain following the Wizards' loss to the Bucks on Jan. 3 and hasn't played since. The Wizards' shooting guard sat out three games before the aforementioned Bucks matchup due to issues with his left hamstring as well, so Washington has missed his presence in all but 13 minutes of play over the last nine games.

In December, Beal missed six games due to a right hamstring strain.

Beal returns to a Wizards team currently sitting in 12th place in the Eastern Conference at 18-26. Losers in five of their last seven games, Washington hopes the return of their best player will key a turnaround and vault them into the East's playoff picture.

In 24 games this season, Beal is averaging 22.9 points, 5.2 assists and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 52.5% from the field and 34% from three.

The Wizards and Knicks will tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden. Full coverage of the game starts on NBC Sports Washington at 7 p.m.
