Marchand, Bruins send Krug off in style on social media originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
Turns out Torey Krug made a few friends during his eight-plus seasons in Boston.
The former Bruins defenseman signed a seven-year, $45 million contract with the St. Louis Blues in free agency Friday, moving on from the team that signed as an undrafted free agent in 2012.
While Krug's departure seemed inevitable, the 29-year-old still had to come to grips with leaving some of his closest friends.
That list includes Bruins winger Brad Marchand, who cracked one more height joke on Krug's way out.
Krug shared a pithy reply to his 5-foot-9 ex-teammate on his Instagram story.
"Hahah you’re a beauty. Will miss you big man!" Krug wrote on Carlo's post.
Krug admitted Friday he was "not close" to re-signing with the Bruins in free agency, but he clearly still has plenty of love for his former teammates.
