Boy's Bi-District Basketball: Four local and area teams get set for first-round play

Feb. 19—A quartet of local and area high school basketball teams will launch post season play early this week with bi-district encounters on tap.

The Alto Yellowjackets (20-11) will get things started by taking on McLeod's Mustangs (33-3) at 6 p.m. Monday at Hallsville High School.

Alto is the District 22-2A third place team, while McLeod came in second place in District 21-2A.

The Alto-McLeod winner will advance to face either San Augustine or Garrison in the Area Round later this week.

Three games are on the docket for Tuesday evening.

Jacksonville and Center will lock horns in a Class 4A, Region III bi-district fray.

That game is scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m. at Central Heights High School. Note, the game was originally set to begin at 7 p.m., but has been moved up an hour.

The Indians (13-16) will be representing District 18-4A as its third place team. The Roughriders (20-9) finished in second place in the District 17-4A standings.

The Jacksonville-Center winner advances to the second round of the playoffs where they will go up against either Hamshire-Fannett or Vidor.

Bullard (20-14), the fourth place club from District 18-4A will be tangling with the District 17-4A champion, Chapel Hill (27-4).

That game will commence at 7:30 p.m. at Tyler Junior College's Wagstaff Fieldhouse.

A Bullard win Tuesday would sent the Panthers to the Area round and a date with either Hargrave or West Orange-Stark.

In Class 3A, Region III action, a battle of Tigers will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Pine Tree High School where Troup and Daingerfield will go at it.

Troup (25-7) finished the regular season in third place in district while Daingerfield (record unavailable) finished as league runner-up.

The Troup-Daingerfield winner will take on either Hooks or Mount Vernan in theArea round.
