BOYS BB: Kokomo falls to top-ranked Fishers in 1-game regional

Mar. 10—NEW CASTLE — No. 1-ranked Fishers took control early and kept it the rest of the way in beating No. 4 Kokomo 66-52 in a Class 4A boys basketball regional championship on Saturday in front of an absolutely packed house at the legendary New Castle Fieldhouse.

McDonald's All-American Flory Bidunga closed his brilliant Wildkat career with 20 points, seven rebounds, four blocked shots and one assist. The Kansas recruit led the way as the Kats compiled a 69-16 record over the last three seasons with a Final Four run in 2022 and a state runner-up finish in 2023.

"Our seniors have accomplished a lot in three years," Kokomo coach John Peckinpaugh said. "To win three sectionals in a row is something special. The last two years, we've been beat in the tournament by the best team in the state. It's nothing to hang your head about."
