Boys basketball roundup: Paynesville's 3-point parade beats ACGC

Feb. 9—GROVE CITY — The Paynesville Bulldogs have no fear of launching the basketball from long range.

On Friday night, Paynesville sank 12 3-pointers on its way to a 64-51 victory over Atwater-Cosmos Grove City.

Reed Johnson had 16 points for the Bulldogs. The 5-foot-10 sophomore guard had five 3-pointers. Brayden Pung added 13 points, including three 3-pointers. Abe Brunner had 11 points for the Bulldogs.

ACGC trailed 31-22 at halftime. The Falcons had a chance to cut it to five, but turned the ball over.

Jonas Morrison led ACGC with 25 points and three steals. Kyler Pickle contributed 19 points, six rebounds and four assists. Jaxon Drange had seven assists and five rebounds for the Falcons.

Paynesville is now 10-1 in the Central Minnesota Conference and 17-5 overall. The Bulldogs trail Eden Valley-Watkins, which is unbeaten in the CMC.

ACGC is 7-4 in the conference and 10-9 overall.

ACGC plays host to MACCRAY at 7 p.m. Monday at Grove City. The Bulldogs play host to Kimball at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Paynesville.

Hayden Sobiech had 20 points and seven rebounds, Luke Dingmann added 17 points, 11 rebounds and four assists and Kaden DeRoo pumped in 14 points with four assists in Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa's victory at Holdingford.

Luke Illies added 10 points, eight rebounds and three steals for the Jaguars.

Dawson Hofer, a 6-foot-3 freshman, had 26 points, 13 rebounds and two steals for the Huskers.

BBE plays host to Eden Valley-Watkins at 7 p.m. Thursday at Brooten.

Eli Ehrke's 20 points paced Glencoe-Silver Lake in a Wright County Conference win over Litchfield at Litchfield.

Ethan Sonju (17) and Joshua Fiecke (14) also finished in double figures for the Panthers.

Noah Dietel nearly had a double-double for the Dragons with 10 points and nine rebounds. Creighton Huhner had 13 points, followed by 12 from Garrison Jackman and 10 from Jack McCann.

The Dragons play host to Annandale at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Litchfield.

New London-Spicer's record is at .500 following its loss to the Cardinals at Annandale.

The Wildcats are 3-6 in the Wright County West and 10-10 overall. Annandale is 8-1 and 16-3.

NLS plays host to Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at New London.

Dawson-Boyd shot 61%, 11 of 18, from 3-point range on the way to the victory at Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.

Sophomore guard led the Blackjacks with 32 points. Brayson Boike added 24 points, six assists, three steals and two blocked shots and Drew Hjelmeland had 11 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots.

DeAndrew Holloway had 24 points and Jared Cortez added 16 for the Fighting Saints.Dawson-Boyd plays host to Ortonville at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dawson. KMS plays Minnewaska at 7 p.m. Monday at Glenwood.

Central Minnesota Christian overcame a 32-27 halftime deficit to defeat MACCRAY at Clara City.

MACCRAY shot 38% from the field, making 18 of 47 attempts. CMCS shot 40%, making 26 of 64 tries.

Logan Roelofs had 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Bluejays. Drew Duininck also had 14 points and added eight rebounds to his stats line.

Xavier Noble had 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists for the Wolverines.

CMCS plays host to Lac qui Parle Valley at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Prinsburg. MACCRAY plays Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City at 7 p.m. Monday at Grove City.

Canby built a 39-20 first-half lead on the way to a Camden Conference South Division win against Yellow Medicine East at Canby.

The Lancers' top scorer was Kolton Duis with 21 points.

Ricky Enney paced the Sting with 13 points. YME plays host to Minneota at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at Granite Falls.

Ryan Schrupp's double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds helped the Jaguars improve to 5-14 with a win against Lakeview at Renville.

Schrupp, a junior guard, shot 8 of 22 from the field. He made 13 of 16 free throws (81%).

Jon Driggs also secured a double-double for RCW, recording 11 points and 11 rebounds.

For Lakeview, Braylon Breyfogle scored 23 points.RCW plays host to Canby at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Renville.

Lac qui Parle Valley put an end to a three-game losing streak after beating Ortonville in a Camden Conference North Division matchup at Ortonville.

The Eagles are 8-12 overall and 5-8 in the Camden. The Trojans fall to 3-17 overall and 1-11 in conference play.

LQPV plays St. Cloud Cathedral at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Cloud.
