On Monday, Dr. Mehmet Oz made his debut as the guest host of "Jeopardy!" despite the show receiving quite a bit of backlash when his appearance was announced in early February. The doctor has been accused of repeatedly making unsubstantiated medical claims. Regardless, he was happy to be filling in for the late Alex Trebek.
"You know, I was so fortunate to become friends with Alex, and I visited him and this show as often as I could," said Dr. Oz at the top of the show. "One of my favorite memories was of Alex showing me, with immense pride, a room full of letters and support for him from you, from his fans. And of all of his achievements he was most proud of his connection with all of you at home."
Unfortunately for Dr. Oz, he didn't have the same connection with viewers as Trebek, or at least those who were watching. #BoycottJeopardy started trending on social media. One fan wrote on Twitter, "For the first time in literally decades I will not be watching #Jeopardy. I never thought Jeopardy would chase me away as a viewer but here we are."
