Boudreaux clubs 3 home runs, drives in 9, Rusk wallops Palestine, 17-7

Apr. 11—RUSK — Rusk's power hitters but on a show Wednesday night at Lady Eagle Park where the home team secured a 17-7 (4.5 innings, mercy rule) victory over Palestine.

Senior Sarah Boudreaux had a night to remember. She launched three home runs, including two grand slams and drove in nine runs as a part of a 3-4 evening.

Boudreaux's first grand slam came in the third inning when Rusk extended its lead to 10-4.

In the bottom of the fourth, Boudreaux jacked a pitch over the center field wall for her second grand slam of the night, as the Lady Eagles expanded their lead to 17-5.

Aubrey Hassel and Riley Collins also went 3-4 for Rusk. Hassel belted a solo home run and a double while driving in five of her club's runs. Collins also contributed a two-base hit to the Rusk cause.

Madison Downs stroked a double and collected two RBI.

Downs was also the winning pitcher. She pitched three innings and gave up five runs (four earned) on four hits. Downs struck out five and walked an equal number.

The win propelled Rusk (19-10-2, 5-3) to sole possession of second place in the District 18-4A standings.

The Ladycats fell to 11-15, 1-7 following the defeat.

At 6:45 p.m. Friday the Lady Eagles will be in Hudson to face the Lady Hornets.
