The Boston Celtics lost a close game in overtime to the Charlotte Hornets on the road this past Monday night on the back end of a back-to-back with the Memphis Grizzlies the night prior. The mediocre performance from the Celtics highlighted their subpar defense and lack of attention to detail in the disappointing contest.
Boston had a chance to close out the game multiple times but failed to do so, allowing the Hornets to gain momentum through offensive rebounds and the stellar play of point guard Lamelo Ball. The Celtics’ defensive effort was notably bad, with their lack of consistency and engagement being major factors in their loss to Charlotte.
The Hornets capitalized on the Celtics’ weaknesses, specifically offensive rebounding and free throws.
