'I was booing you': It's tough for Philadelphia's Trea Turner, even his mom is booing him

Just how bad has Phillies shortstop Trea Turner's slump been this season? His mom was booing him.

After snapping his current slump with a game-tying, two run homer with two outs in the ninth inning of Philadelphia's 6-5 extra-inning victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Phillies big offseason acquisition admitted that his mom was actually booing him after his fourth at-bat.

"My mom prepared me for anything in this game or in this world. She was tough on me from and early age," Turner said. The shortstop was asked if his mom ever booed him. "She told me today she was actually booing me. She texted and said, 'Good game except for your fourth at bat.' I said yeah, not a good one and she said, 'I was booing you.'"

TURNER REBOUNDS: After Trea Turner said 'I've sucked,' he saved the Phillies while this star still struggles

There's been good reason to boo Trea Turner, who offered this candid assessment of his season so far: "I've sucked." After signing a 11-year, $300 million contract during the offseason, Turner has under performed his career averages, hitting .250 with five home runs, 13 RBIs, six stolen bases and an OPS of .687.

Last season, with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Turner hit .298 with 21 homers, 100 RBIs, 101 runs scored, 27 stolen bases and an OPS of 809.
