Bobby Petrino's coaches show was airing in Louisville when he got fired
It was a bit awkward if you were watching Bobby Petrino’s weekly coach show Sunday morning in Louisville.
Petrino’s show was airing as usual when news broke — first reported by Yahoo’s Pat Forde and later confirmed by the school — that he had been fired as Louisville’s head coach.
Bobby Petrino is on WAVE right now for his weekly coaches show.

Instead of breaking away from the program, WAVE 3, the television station, decided to air a scroll on the bottom of the screen during the show after the news broke saying Petrino had been fired.
So while Inside the Cards with Coach Bobby Petrino is on Wave 3, they scroll across the bottom that head coach Bobby Petrino has been fired. 😳

Oh boy.
Petrino’s firing isn’t unexpected. Louisville was shellacked on Friday night at Syracuse and fell to 2-8 on the season. Though with two games left in the season it was feasible that Louisville would simply wait until the end of the season to make a coaching change.
The Syracuse game was Louisville’s seventh straight loss and the third-straight game (and fourth out of five) where the Cardinals had given up more than 50 points.
The school owes Petrino a $14 million buyout and has now parted ways with its basketball coach, athletic director and football coach all within the past 13 months.
