Bo Jackson's nephew commits to Auburn

More than 20 years after Bo Jackson wrapped up his illustrious Auburn career, another Jackson will be suiting up for the Tigers.

Bo’s nephew, Shedrick Jackson, announced Monday that he has committed to play at Auburn. The younger Jackson is a three-star wide receiver from Hoover (Ala.) in the class of 2018. He chose the Tigers over offers from Georgia Tech, Memphis, Mississippi State and Missouri, among others.

Jackson announced his decision with a really cool video, too:

Bo Jackson, the 1985 Heisman Trophy winner, is one of the best athletes to ever play college football. He rushed for 4,303 yards and 43 touchdowns for the Tigers while also competing on the school’s baseball and track teams. In the video, which shows clips of Bo, Shedrick does not shy away from his family’s legacy at Auburn.

“My family gave me my name. Now it’s on me to live up to that name,” he said.

According to AuburnSports.com, Shedrick Jackson has visited Auburn’s campus three times in the past six weeks. He impressed during a recent camp:

Jackson has taken numerous visits to Auburn, including three in the past six weeks. He visited in May and met with new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey and wide receivers coach Kodi Burns and returned June 3 to attend the Tigers’ Big Cat event.

Jackson then was the top overall player at Auburn’s half-day skills camp June 17, where he dominated 1-on-1s versus cornerbacks, ran a hand-timed 4.37-second 40-yard dash, had a broad jump of 10 feet 11 inches and a 40-inch vertical leap.

Jackson is ranked by Rivals as the third-best wide receiver in the state for his class. He is the seventh member of Auburn’s 2018 class.
