Bluefield boys warm up quickly in victory over Wyoming East

Jan. 24—BRUSHFORK — The weather is warming up rapidly in Mercer County this week. The Bluefield High School boys basketball team warmed up just as rapidly during Tuesday night's game with Wyoming East at Brushfork Armory.

The Beavers outscored the Warriors 19-9 in the first quarter, ceded some run room for the Warriors in the second stanza, then took the driver's seat for keeps in a 24-9 third quarter perfomance en route to a 61-45 victory.

Kamron Gore scored 16 points with a dozen rebounds to lead the Beavers. He also distributed four assists. RJ Hairston scored 12 points with 10 rebounds, while Jase Smith scored 11 points and Glen Keene contributed 10 points. Sencer Fields had four steals.

Braxton Morgan scored 16 points for Wyoming East, while Cole Lambery scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Late Girls Basketball

PikeView 54, Bluefield 26

GARDNER — Riley Meadows scored 17 points to pace the Lady Panthers in a lopsided win over the Lady Beavers on Monday night.

Meadows also had eight rebounds and four steals for PikeView. Cat Farmer scratched out 11 points while Jaelynn Shrewsbury collected eight steals.

Cara Brown scored 10 points to lead Bluefied.

FAIRLEA — Hanna Fuller rocked out 15 points and 19 rebounds to lead the Spartans past visiting Mercer Christian Academy on Monday.

Kennedy Steward added 13 points for Greenbrier East (10-3).

Kaylee Trump poured in 20 points for the Lady Cavaliers (9-4) while Ella Botts added 10.
