Blue Jays RHP Stroman confident in shoulder

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Marcus Stroman expects to make his regular-season debut April 1 against the New York Yankees despite dealing with inflammation in his pitching shoulder during the first few weeks of spring training.

Stroman, 26, has been ruled out for the team's March 29 season opener because of the injury. He pitched two scoreless innings in his spring debut Saturday against the Canadian National Junior Team and told reporters afterward he felt good.

"I thought (Saturday's game) went really well," Stroman said. "I'm ready to rock -- just progress over the next two starts and looking forward to pitching against the Yankees on (April 1)."

Stroman said an MRI in February showed that his shoulder had no structural damage.

In 33 starts last season, Stroman went 13-9 with a 3.09 ERA. He is 37-25 with a 3.61 ERA in four seasons with Toronto.
