Northern Illinois player brings down the basket with monster dunk

Occasionally, a dunk can get a little messy: broken glass, a delay in the game, but always something for the highlight reel.

You’ve seen it in the NBA. Former center Darryl Dawkins had some destruction to his credit and even Shaq got in the mix early is his career.

But Northern Illinois senior Pete Rakocevic might have one-upped them. The 6-foot-11 center really brought the thunder against Central Michigan on Saturday. His second half dunk didn't shatter the glass, it actually took down the entire hoop.

And while the fans and benches went nuts, there may have been a little too much thunder. The falling basket nearly took out Chippewa Junior John Simons who was inbounding the ball.

Fortunately, he escaped and the game went on after a brief delay. The NIU Huskies won convincingly 73-55. Big Pete finished with 6 points in just 8 minutes of playing time. Oh yeah, and that dunk.
