If the buzz surrounding True Detective on HBO is any indication, people love a good mystery. Normally, you need to script these things though. But fans at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis witnessed something of a real-life disappearing act on Tuesday night when a shot on net from Blues right winger T.J. Oshie seemingly vanished. Players, officials, fans and announcers alike seemed puzzled after the wrist shot left Oshie's stick and didn't seem to land...anywhere. Not about to let the case go unsolved Oshie circled the Ottawa Senators crease to investigate firsthand while officials resigned to the instant replay system. Oshie's ensuing 'eyewitness testimony' (read: pointing adamantly inside the net) would soon corroborate the slow-motion replay's finding. The puck hadn't actually flown out of play, but had instead tucked itself quietly underneath the roof of the net. TJ Oshie: 1. Disappearing puck: 0. Unfortunately for the Blues' impromptu detective, the Senators took the win in a shootout, 5-4.

Kevin Love's Ups and Downs

When the Minnesota Timberwolves hosted the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday night, Kevin Love scored 31 points and secured 17 rebounds. It was the seventh time this season Love has topped 30 points and 15 boards in a game, and the twenty-fifth time in his career — one more than Kevin Garnett on the franchise's career list. His numbers were also good enough to help lift Minnesota to a 109-99 win despite crashing to the floor in nasty fashion in the fourth quarter.

Doubly Famous

Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston can add another prestigious accolade to his resume; he has been named to Baseball America's preseason All-America third team. Though he redshirted the 2012 football season he was a two-way player for the Seminoles baseball squad last year, making 32 starts in the field and lodging 17 relief appearance on the mound.
