Josh Donaldson is enjoying a breakout season in 2013. The Oakland Athletics third baseman is among league leaders in several offensive categories. But it was a leaping grab made by the A's rising star that robbed the reigning National League Most Valuable Player - and his reaction that followed - that was truly impressive Wednesday night.

With San Francisco trailing Oakland 6-4 in the bottom of the seventh with no outs, Buster Posey absolutely laced a Pat Neshek offering down the third base line. Donaldson's cat-like reflexes turned the hard-hit ball into an out and turned the former first-round pick into a bit of a showman. As he dove to his left to make the catch, he turned back toward third base umpire Gerry Davis with an expression on his face as if to say, "Did you see that?!" He then began to throw the ball around the horn and acknowledged the ump. Donaldson finished the night going 2-for-5 at the plate and scored two runs in the A's 9-6 victory over the defending World Series champs.

Moving to hockey, the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Detroit Red Wings in overtime of Game 7 of their Western Conference semifinal series 2-1.

And in boxing news, Floyd Mayweather will fight Canelo Alvarez on Sept. 14 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas.
