NBA commissioner David Stern is scheduled to step down from his post on Feb. 1, 2014. Perhaps then — and only then — the 71-year-old will be out of the spotlight. But until that day, Stern will be under the microscope and have cameras trained on him at all times. Thursday night was one of those times. And unfortunately for the longest-tenured commissioner in North American professional sports, Stern was caught choking on water.
The innocuous — but hilarious — moment occurred while Stern was attending the Los Angeles Clippers-Brooklyn Nets game (which the Nets won 102-93). He took a swig from his bottle and thus, the GIF that keeps on giving:
It was an eventful week for Clippers big man DeAndre Jordan — for all the wrong reasons. First, Jordan got tangled up with Philadelphia 76ers guard Tony Wroten and experienced a different kind of wardrobe malfunction.
Then, Jordan had a dunk malfunction. While playing the Boston Celtics Wednesday night, Jordan jammed the ball between the rim and backboard on an alley-oop attempt.
Worst shootout attempt ever?
Finally, Detroit Red Wings enforcer Todd Bertuzzi isn't known for his puck-handling skills. But the NHL veteran's "attempt" during a shootout against the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday night may have been the worst shootout attempt ever. Bertuzzi didn't even get a shot off as Detroit fell to Tampa Bay 2-1.
