When Boston Celtics forward Brandon Bass was growing up in Baton Rouge, La., one of his childhood neighbors drowned. That sad memory — along with being the father of two kids of his own — is now helping motivate Bass to overcome his own fears of the water and learn how to swim. The 28-year-old is teaming up with the Boys & Girls Club of Boston to volunteer his time and take lessons with other children from the New England area. According to a report in the Boston Globe, he'll continue to take participate in classes as long as his NBA schedule permits. Judging by the video above, Bass is off to a good start.
