Why it’s time to drop a longtime fantasy standout

Yahoo Sports Fantasy Minute

In his illustrious career, one that someday may feature his bronze bust in Canton, Larry Fitzgerald has made eight Pro Bowl appearances, logged six 1,000-yard seasons and scored 88 touchdowns. Still a relatively youthful 31-years-old, most would believe he’s destined to pad those stats over the next few seasons.
However, his impatient fantasy owners would vehemently disagree, yours truly included.
Fitzgerald is expendable in 12-team leagues. Barely registering a blip on the wide receiver radar, he’s found the end zone only once this season, ranking No. 64 in per-game average at the position. That’s behind the likes of Travis Benjamin, Kenny Stills and Miles Austin. Sure, go ahead and blame Carson Palmer’s extended absence, but even with the veteran passer at the controls, he’s posted WR2 worthy numbers just one time (Week 6).
With upstarts Allen Robinson, Doug Baldwin and Andre Holmes still widely available in Yahoo leagues, the time has come to throw Larry to the fishes.
