Some fantasy stars to acquire at any cost

Though many owners can reconstruct a team off waivers, most in challenging formats must rely on wheeling and dealing. Trading is an art. Buy at the right time and you could acquire a commodity destined to take you to the Promised Land. What players should you aim for right now? Here are three must gets:

Philip Rivers, SD, QB – Drafted as most owners’ QB2, the Charger has compiled a top-six line through six weeks. With only one difficult matchup remaining, Week 13 versus Cincinnati, an excellent cast of targets around him and a porous defense, he’s sure to attract Fantasy MVP votes when the dust settles come January. Several more 300-yard, 2-3 TD days are in the offing.

Eddie Lacy, GB, RB – A beast of burden over the past two weeks, Lacy has totaled 46 carries for 216 yards. The end-zone has remained elusive for the rookie, but sans Randall Cobb the next 6-8 weeks, it’s highly likely Mike McCarthy will lean heavily on Lacy in all situations. With a very favorable schedule ahead (Cle, at Min, Chi, Phi, at NYG, Min, at Det), he’s bound to venture inside the RB top-10.

Justin Blackmon, Jax, WR – Arguably the hottest receiver in fantasy, the firebrand has hauled in 19 catches for 326 yards and a touchdown the past two weeks. Because Jacksonville will constantly play from behind, double-digit targets are in the forecast on a near weekly basis. No matter if it’s Blaine Gabbert or Chad Henne under center, the Jag should flirt with top-5 WR numbers rest of season.
