Fantasy owners hoping Andre Ellington would be an every-down back this season suffered a potential blow in Week 1. The running back was carted off the field in the fourth quarter after what appeared to be a non-contact knee injury against the New Orleans Saints.
Chris Johnson finished with 10 rushes for 37 yards; while David Johnson didn't carry the ball but caught one pass for a 55-yard touchdown to help seal the win over the Saints.
Ellington, who had 12 carries for 69 yards a touchdown before getting hurt, had accounted for more than 1,000 yards from scrimmage in his first two seasons.
There is reason for optimism Ellington avoided serious injury but stay tuned for updates and be ready to make a waiver claim this week.
