A stray cat briefly disrupted a match between world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki and Sam Stosur at the WTA Championships in Doha, Qatar.
Midway through the first set, a cat scampered across the court in the middle of a Wozniacki service game. Wozniacki appeared to notice the cat first and smiled at it, while the chair umpire briefly halted play and waited for the animal to clear the court.
When the cat appeared to leave through a tunnel, play resumed. The feline soon reappeared, though, and stayed still long enough to watch Wozniacki serve the next point.
Then, in an appalling breach of tennis etiquette, the cat exited the stadium before the changeover.
Feral cats are common in middle eastern countries like Qatar and tend to be accepted by local populations.
