Ruffles, long the domain of potato chip bags and paintings of 17th century monarchs, made a comeback this year courtesy of world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki. The results were as impressive as the 20-year-old's Grand Slam finishes, thus making the decision to abandon the goffered frills a fashion no-brainer.
Designer Stella McCartney recently unveiled a ruffle-less collection that Wozniacki will debut at next month's U.S. Open. Like most of McCartney's designs, it's young, sleek and trendy. Unlike previous kits from this season, it shouldn't land Wozniacki on our worst-dressed list.
Before dining with Rory McIlroy on Sunday night in London, Wozniacki posed for some shots in the new collection.
The backpack and windbreaker give it a "first day of school, 1987" vibe, but I'm digging the look. Anything is better than the ruffles. The adidas website has the full collection available for your browsing pleasure. Our favorite part? The hot pants. (Aye, the hot pants.)
