The video mavens at 101 Great Goals found this wonderful clip from a match in Zivinice, Bosnia and Herzegovina. After beating the goalkeeper to the ball, the player we will call "Unfortunate Eddie" had nothing between him and the easiest goal of his life. Eddie slowed down as he neared the muddy goalmouth to make sure he didn't do the impossible and somehow screw up his golden moment. He then took his shot on the empty net from point-blank range and...somehow screwed up his golden moment.
It appeared that the ball took a bigger hop than he expected on the terrible pitch and his shot went right up into the crossbar and arched back towards him, giving the keeper time to get back into position and block his second attempt. The spectators laughed and someone then uploaded video of the moment with the soundtrack to a 1980s cop show to YouTube. And that's how a missed goal in Zivinice brings joy to the whole world.
