Roma's Mattia Destro was given a four-match ban for his actions during his side's 3-1 win over Cagliari on Sunday. Destro punched Cagliari's Davide Astori in the side of the head, but the referee somehow missed the initial incident when it happened, showing Astori a yellow card for retaliating after Destro's theatrical tumble once his second attempt to hit Astori from behind landed. A review of the TV footage showed who started it and punished Destro with a three-match ban for violent conduct.

The 23-year-old striker was also given a seperate one-match ban for yellow-card accumulation after he was cautioned for diving just before halftime.

Losing Destro for a total of four matches will be painful for second-place Roma. He scored all three goals against Cagliari and he now has nearly twice as many goals as the club's next two leading scorers, Francesco Totti and Gervinho (who are both on seven), combined.
