Rio Ferdinand angers road safety campaigners on Instagram

Dirty Tackle

Despite the predicament of his team and the growing sense of finality in his career, Rio Ferdinand was in a very good mood on Wednesday. He was so chipper, in fact, that the Manchester United defender shared his joy with his Instagram followers, documenting his journey to training.

It's impossible not to be drawn in by Rio's enthusiasm ("GO ON CRAIGY! ON THE WAY TO TRAINING! LET'S 'AVE IT! GO ON SON! GIVE IT TO 'EM! HAHAAAAA!") but the video raises so many questions. Does he play 14-year-old Craig David songs on the way to work every day? Is he the only person on earth playing 14-year-old Craig David songs on the way to work every day? Is it a good idea to film yourself on a phone while driving? Don't you just love hats?

One of those questions has been answered by road safety charity Brake, who have told The Daily Mail that shooting a video of yourself enjoying dated R&B music while driving is "irresponsible" and "insulting" to families who have been left bereaved by distracted drivers.

Rio has yet to respond to the complaint, but he will probably film an apology over this modern classic shortly.
