PSV Eindhoven's 17-year-old winger Zakaria Bakkali was unexpectedly included in Belgium's 25-man squad for their upcoming friendly against France. The day before the team was announced, Bakkali scored his first goal as a member of PSV's first team in a Champions League qualifier against Zulte Waregem. And on Saturday, in just the second Eredivisie match of his young career, Bakkali showed why Belgium coach Marc Wilmots is so eager to get him in his side by scoring a hat trick as PSV beat NEC 5-0.
PSV did not start anyone over the age of 22 against NEC and Bakkali proved why they didn't need to by scoring his first goal in the sixth minute. He scored again shortly after halftime and with PSV already up 4-0, he completed his hat trick in the 82nd minute by beating two defenders and firing an off balance shot into the far corner of the net. Did I mention that he's just 17 years old?
So in a Belgium side that already includes Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku, Christian Benteke, Kevin De Bruyne and Dries Mertens (among others), please welcome Zakaria Bakkali.
