Preston's Joe Garner scores incredible volley in League One play-off

Dirty Tackle

Preston North End have failed to win promotion in each of their last eight play-off campaigns, so their fans are used to disappointment at this stage of the season. The Lilywhites were trailing 1-0 at home to Rotherham in their League One play-off semi-final first leg on Saturday, perhaps expecting their ninth play-off attempt to go the same way as the last eight.

However, four minutes after the break, striker Joe Garner scored what must be one of the greatest goals in play-off history. Controlling the ball on his chest around 25 yards from goal, PNE's top scorer then flicked the ball over an oncoming defender before unleashing a Thunderbastard that Millers keeper Adam Collin had no chance of stopping.

The goal earned Preston a 1-1 draw, but it is probably good enough for Joe Garner to be declared The Winner of Football. Seriously, we can all stop playing now. Joe Garner has won.
