Parma are celebrating their centenary season and as part of the ongoing festivities, the players handed our robot vacuum cleaners to their Fiorentina counterparts prior to Monday's match. Because how else do you celebrate 100 years of football than with a Vorwerk Folletto Robot VR100?

In truth, Vorwerk is Parma's shirt sponsor and wanted to take part in the occasion. Parma CEO Pietro Leonardi noted that "It is an unusual way to celebrate the first century of our team, we are sure." But he also speculated it would be a welcome surprise for the players.

Here's video of the ceremonial gifting of the vacuums...

The best part of the whole thing was when Parma captain Alessandro Lucarelli handed the vacuum to Gonzalo Rodriguez, explaining what it was and then shrugging as if to say, "I have no idea what is happening right now either, but hey — a free vacuum is a free vacuum."

The match ended in a 2-2 draw and presumably everyone then went home and cleaned their houses. In case you were worried, Vorwerk did agree to double the number of free robots they gave away to ensure the Parma players could have them as well. Vacuums for everyone!
