With Inter down 1-0 to Udinese in the 85th minute on Saturday, Javier Zanetti was shown his first red card in 548 Serie A appearances and only the second in his legendary Inter career (the other came in a 1999 Coppa Italia match. Always the gentleman, Zanetti didn't argue and even shook the referee's hand after being booked for a second time for his tackle from behind inside the box.
An event as rare as a Zanetti red card seemed to throw the whole match into a momentary tailspin, though. Julio Cesar ended up saving Antonio Di Natale's penalty and, minutes later, Giampaolo Pazzini missed one of his own by blasting the ball miles over the bar.
