Dirty Tackle

Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin sparked outrage after the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup when it was discovered that the told teammates to target Lionel Messi as he struggled with a hamstring injury. In the second leg, Godin learned his lesson and decided to handle the dirty work himself.

With the score at 0-0 and Barcelona holding the away goal advantage from the first leg, Diego Costa knocked Dani Alves off the ball, earning himself a yellow card. But once Alves was on the ground, Godin literally ran right over him, stepping on his lower back in the process.

Alves did a bit of rolling and wailing, but Godin wasn't booked until three minutes later. Barcelona went on to win the trophy for a record 11th time.

This has been the Dirty Tackle of the Day: a chronicling of unfortunate events.
