Being at the World Cup with the team he so desperately wanted to play for has to be tough for Davey Becks. It seems that hanging around England training sessions as some kind of celebrity mascot isn't enough for him, either.
Tempted by the call of the practice pitch, Becks goes against doctor's orders by kicking a ball around — despite the Achilles injury that's keeping him off the squad — right in front of said team doctors as they kind of ask/tell the superstar to please stop. After being tisked at once, he announces his respect for the doctor before, you know, going against his wishes once again.
Seriously though, if you take anything from this clip it should be that this guy truly is dedicated and in love with the game. A lot of people say otherwise, but for him to be in South Africa with the England team and so incapable of staying away from the ball should tell you that his priorities aren't as much with Armani underpants and Lakers courtside seats as you might think. Then again, the fact that this clip was put out by the FA and all took place right in front of a hoard of press cameras could be more than a smidge coincidental.
Anyway, in other Becks related news, he has officially been announced as Yahoo!'s "Global Football Ambassador." You can see his bloggy interview space here. No word yet on whether this means he has to get us backstage passes to the next Spice Girls reunion tour, though.
