Cristiano Ronaldo was not able to play in Real Madrid's Champions League group-stage match against Galatasaray at the Bernabeu, but the stadium was still filled with more love for the Portuguese than a swimsuit model convention. The club handed out 45,000 Ronaldo masks so fans could cover up their own facial inferiority during the game. Thousands of "Ronaldo 7" cards were also held aloft as a giant "Balon de Oro Cristiano Ronaldo" banner was unfurled at one end of the stadium.

All of this was intended to show support for Ronaldo's Ballon d'Or campaign, the voting for which was extended to Friday.
