After only a couple of starts at Manchester Utd this season, Anderson landed in Florence on Thursday afternoon to finalize a loan move to Fiorentina.
This kind of transfer news isn't usually found within the confines of Dirty Tackle, but there's something we need to talk about. It's the tattoo on the Brazilian midfielder's right arm.
During his medical, the 25-year-old took off his shirt, sucked in his belly and showed us his inked map of the world. The United Kingdom and Ireland are positioned due north of Brazil, as if they grew tired of being next to France and floated away. To the right of South America is either a version of the Iberian Peninsula drawn by a drunk child from memory, or an upside-down Australia. And that might be Greenland or Russia on his shoulder, or maybe just a big cloud.
You may assume that Anderson is a little geographically confused, or a huge fan of German geophysicist Alfred Wegener and his theories of continental drift, but he explained the tattoo in a 2011 interview on the Manchester Utd website:
The one on my right arm is a map of everywhere I’ve visited… Italy, England, America. And I’m not finished yet.
Why use a photo album, travel journal or "Countries I've Visited" Facebook app when an inaccurate tattoo will do the job just as well?
Elsewhere in Manchester Utd-related body art news, the Premier League club posted an impressive fan back tatt on their official Instagram account earlier this week...
