Look, when you seek out the word "cuddly" in the dictionary, you're not going to see Tom Coughlin's picture. Unless the word "cranky" is also on the page, and then, boom, there you go. The New York Giants head coach has won two Super Bowls and still wears the look of a guy who knows what you're up to, friend, and you should be ashamed of yourself.
Still, this was weird: after the Hall of Fame game on Sunday night, Coughlin got booed by fans. Not just genial, we're-just-playin'-with-ya boos, but full-throated I-would-torch-your-car-if-I-could boos. You can hear women and children booing Coughlin, and that's when you know something's crossed over. Here, check out the action:
(Boos also here if the above player doesn't show up.)
NJ.com is clueless about the reason for the boos, and we are too. Bills fans feeling inadequate or worried about Bon Jovi moving the team to Canada? Ohio residents suspicious of all things New York? No idea.
Of course, the crowd could have been made up of former players that the hypermeticulous Coughlin fined for mortal sins like not arriving five minutes early to a team meeting. That, we could understand.
