On ‘Butt Fumble’ anniversary, Mark Sanchez debuts a new hairstyle as result of lost bet

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – On the one-year anniversary of the "Butt fumble," New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez did something else with his head that was equally as puzzling. And just as cringe-worthy.

On Friday a photo emerged of Sanchez wearing cornrows, his payment for a lost bet, in a look that can be described as hideous.

On the plus side for Sanchez, hair care is now a breeze as he continues to recover from a season-ending shoulder injury suffered in the third game of preseason.

And there’s also the fact that he won’t need the headband he had been wearing either. Again, the little blessings of life.

The timing of the new hairstyle was interesting for Sanchez.

Friday was the anniversary of the overplayed and over-dissected "Butt fumble" in which Sanchez ran into the backside of retired guard Brandon Moore, and lost a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. He suffered an indignity that Thanksgiving night while he tried to make a play on the field, but he really should have called an audible on the bet that cost him the rest of his dignity.
