New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony sprained his right ankle Thursday night as his team went down to the Memphis Grizzlies Thursday. The injury caused Anthony to miss Saturday's loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The team will look to halt its short losing skid when it takes on the Orlando Magic Monday afternoon and it may have Anthony back in the lineup to help. The New York Daily News reports that Anthony "wouldn't make a firm commitment" but is likely to "try to play Monday" for the team's annual Martin Luther King Day game.
"It's sore, but if I can go, I will go,'' Anthony said Sunday, according to the paper. "It's time to get going right now.'"
Anthony is averaging 25.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game for the 6-6 Knicks.
