Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians "might not return in 2012," the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. If he leaves, it'll be the first time that Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has had to replace an offensive or defensive coordinator since taking over the team in 2007.
Arians considered retirement last year, the paper reports, and is in the last year of his contract, but "it is unclear if he is retiring … or not having his contract renewed."
Tomlin had told the 57-year-old that he'd be back last week, the Post-Gazette reports, but "team president Art Rooney II indicated Tuesday … that some members of the coaching staff were considering retirement," according to the paper.
Whether he returns or not, Arians and his wife are headed to Hawaii next week to take in the Pro Bowl as the guests of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, the paper notes.
