The New York Yankees took care of fixing up their rotation over the weekend with the addition of Hiroki Kuroda and Michael Pineda, but it meant losing DH/catcher Jesus Montero.
The New York Daily News reports that Yanks GM Brian Cashman is considering a few options for his DH slot. One of them would be to bring Johnny Damon back to the Bronx. However, that deal is "far from imminent," the Daily News reports.
Since the Yankees don't want to spend much money on another player, another possibility, the paper notes, is 29-year-old Jorge Vazquez, who played for the Yanks' Triple-A affiliate last season and smacked 32 homers. However, they could sign a free agent, the paper notes, with Damon, Hideki Matsui and Carlos Pena leading that pack.
The Yankees will also use its DH slot to rest veterans Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter and Mark Teixiera throughout the season as well, the Daily News notes.
