Sharks’ Brent Burns goes clean-shaven, raises $23K for charity

It's still unknown when San Jose Sharks forward/defenseman Brent Burns will return to the lineup after missing five games due to injury, but on Friday he made an impact in a very different way.

Known for his wild hair and beard, Burns had the hair shaved off to both Defending the Blue Line, which provides military families with hockey equipment and other hockey-related costs and the Katie Moore Foundation, which helps battle rare cancers and is named after the wife of New York Ranger forward Dominic Moore.

Doing the honors were teammates Adam Burish, Jason Demers and James Sheppard, and in the end, Burns raised $23,403 for the two charities.

We had our fun with Burns last season when his headshot was unveiled. So we're gonna miss his wild mane and unruly beard on the ice the Sharks. Maybe he'll grow it all out again? We'll see. In the meantime, let's take a moment to remember the greatness that was Brent Burns' beast hair.

The Sharks Foundation Twitter feed has more pictures of the buzzing process.
