There’s a new receiving king in town.

As noted by the American Press, Barbe High (Lake Charles, La.) star receiver Trey Quinn set a new all-time national receiving yardage record during Barbe’s 42-16 win over South Lafourche High (Cut Off, La.).

The Press reported that Quinn broke the record with a catch early in the third quarter, a 26-yard strike from Barbe quarterback Kennon Fontenot. The grab pushed Quinn's game total past 176 yards and his career mark beyond the existing record set by Missouri star Dorial Green-Beckham. The two players will share the SEC next season as Quinn is committed to attend LSU.

"It's emotional. I'm getting chills right now talking about it," Quinn told the American Press. "I never thought I would get that emotional in a game. To see the people I've grown up with come hug me after that, it’s unreal."

You can see video of Quinn's record-setting catch below:

By game’s end Quinn had accounted for 197 yards, pushing his new record total to 6,396 yards in his four-year career. That's 40 more yards than Green-Beckham racked up in his career at Hillcrest High (Springfield, Mo.). Barbe’s win also ensured that the 6-foot, 200-pound senior will get to pad those statistics, with future playoff matchups to come.

Quinn’s quarterback also reached a major milestone on the night, with Fontenot’s 16-for-21 first half good for 275 yards and five touchdowns. Those yards pushed Fontenot beyond the 10,000-yard barrier, making him just the fourth passer in Louisiana history to reach that hallmark.

As for Quinn, he may not be done breaking records, either. He currently stands just 21 catches away from the current record of 356 career receptions, set in 2012 by Christian Academy (Knoxville, Tenn.) star Davis Howell.

Given that Quinn has 88 receptions in 11 games so far in 2013, three more games — or two huge performances — would likely give Quinn a shot at owning two different national records. The quest continues in the second round of the playoffs, where Quinn and his Barbe teammates will face off against Hahnville High.
