Lindsey Vonn made an appearance on the (re)debut of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Monday night. The two-time Vancouver medalist was the second guest of the evening and it --- zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Oh, sorry. I dozed off there for a second.
The interview wasn't bad, per se, it was just bland and unfunny, just like the rest of the show. Leno and Vonn's chat began with some of the usual talk about winning medals and then segued into an off-color discussion about Vonn's husband, Thomas. "He's your coach, your trainer," Leno said, "does that work in all aspects of the bedroom?" I'm not sure which was worse: the joke or its execution.
The best question of the segment was asked by the show's first guest, Jamie Foxx, who seemed a little awed by Vonn's medal and asked her how it felt to win with the world watching. Granted, that's a bit cheesy and Foxx should know exactly what that's like since he's won Hollywood's version of a gold medal, but at least his question seemed to come with some genuineness, JAY.
Also bad: Vonn's outfit. Troy Patterson of Slate wrote that Vonn looked like "a SoCal airhead hitting some awful L.A. nightclub that's six months past its prime." I'm glad he said something like that because now I don't have to.
Check out the clip below. If you can make it through the first six minutes of the clip without falling asleep, there's a decent payoff at the end when Leno asks about Vonn's controversial Sports Illustrated cover shoot.
NBC isnt done with Vonn yet. She's set to appear in a future episode of "Law & Order."
