The U.S. men's volleyball team capped off an extremely emotional Olympic journey by defeating Brazil in four sets (20-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-23) to win the gold medal. You have to feel good for the entire team but especially for head coach Hugh McCutcheon who had to deal with the tragedy involving his in-laws. His team won each game they played in these Games, playing better as the tournament went along.
According to the AP report, this was third time the Americans have won a gold medal in the sport and the first time since 1988. The victory over Brazil ends an extremely impressive Olympiad for the U.S. men's and women's teams. The women earned the silver medal earlier on Saturday after losing to Brazil. It was the first time both the men's and women's team reached the gold medal game since Los Angelese in 1984.
