Those who are looking to score an official U.S. sweater like the ones that Team USA wore at the opening ceremony of the Sochi Games are going to have to reach deep into their bank accounts.

ESPN’s Darren Rovell wrote that four sweaters that were sold on eBay last week averaged a winning bid of $3,100, and the extra-large sweater online eventually sold for $4,850.
If you peruse some eBay search results, you can find a few sweaters below $1,000, though those seem to have numerous days of bidding remaining. There are a handful between $2,000 and $4,000, and then there’s one extra-large sweater with a seller who is inexplicably asking $7,495.

Ralph Lauren is the “official outfitter” for Team USA in 2014, and two weeks before the Sochi Games began, the company released “324 individually numbered, limited edition sweaters” with the American flag and stars and stripes on them. Those had a price tag of $595 and sold out quickly.
I guess it's costly to be stylish.
