Teacher tweets assignments about Winter Olympians

A fourth-grade teacher in Utah has made a classroom lesson out of watching the Olympics. The students have been cheering on Team USA and then preparing assignments for their favorite athletes who are from their home state.

Steven Holcomb, a U.S. bobsledder from Park City, Utah, favorited one of Mr. Young’s tweets, a photo of one the students’ colorful projects that report on Holcomb, a 33-year-old former soldier who has competed in the Olympics since 1998.

Other Utah Olympians who received Twitter shoutouts from Young’s class included gold medalist downhill skier Ted Ligety, bobsledder Stokes Aitken and ski jumper Lindsey Van. There are 15 Winter Olympians representing the kids' home state of Utah out of 230 total members of Team USA.
