Crash, weather cancel ski practice at Whistler

Though the snow was a welcome sight for the teams preparing the ski course, it proved to be a problem for the skiers trying to practice. The fog and continuing snow caused visibility problems.

American skier Stacey Cook crashed while taking a practice run. She crashed into the side netting but stood up under her own power. According to U.S. Ski officials:

Cook appeared to be fine, but took a few minutes to gather herself and stand up. Medical officials then had her sit back down on the snow. She was taken off the mountain by helicopter, which is a standard procedure for all evacuations on the mountain.

She was only the second to go down the course after Italian Lucia Recchia. Officials moved the training run to Friday.
