Hockey earned the number one play of the night Sunday on SportsCenter thanks to Toledo Walleye goaltender Jeff Lerg.
During a 3-2 shootout win over the Fort Wayne Komets, Lerg made 37 stops, including this save of the year stop in overtime that Garrett Meurs will be seeing in his dreams for a while.
Change the Walleye jerseys to that of the late 1990's Buffalo Sabres and you’d have Dominik Hasek right there.
"I knew I had to play it like he was going to shoot it right off the bat and I committed to make that initial save, and then it was a desperation type play swinging my glove back behind me,” Lerg said via the Toledo Blade.
“Honestly, I didn’t feel it hit me so I was nervous at first. But I then I heard the crowd. It felt good to make that save.”
