Vladimir Putin's 'friendly' amateur hockey game stat line: 6 goals, 5 assists (Video)

It was two years ago this month that Russian president Vladimir Putin netted the shootout winner in a post-inauguration hockey game featuring legends of the sport. Today, his skills on the ice have vastly improved; so much so that he recorded 11(!) points in a 21-4 victory during a festival of hockey on Saturday night.

(Pierre McGuire totally saw these skills develop when Putin was tearing up the rinks of Leningrad back in the day.)

We’ve seen tighter defense in an NHL All-Star Game.

Putin was helped playing on a line with Hockey Hall of Famer Pavel Bure and former NHLer Valeri Kamensky. The "presidential" squad faced off against team featuring mostly amateurs, politicians and ex-players like Sergei Makarov and Alex Mogilny, among others.

Putin ended up netting six goals and five assists in the win and was quoted afterward as saying, “We have no winners and no losers, it’s a friendly game.” Surrrrrrrrrre.
