Jamie Benn of the Dallas Stars knows what's up: If you're going to smash the glass with a check, might as well do it in front of the ice girls.

The victim was defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson of the Chicago Blackhawks in the third period, as the teams opened their 2011-12 season in Big D. Not the kind of glass-spraying demolition we all know and love — think Lucic on Mike Van Ryn — but still an unexpected joy (especially when no one gets hurt).

Besides this feat of strength, it was a good night for Benn, as he scored a critical insurance goal in the second period that ended up as the game-winning goal in the Stars' 2-1 victory. He's had 22 goals in consecutive seasons; he's on his way to eclipsing that this year.
