Stephen Gionta hit over into bench, shoved back onto ice by Panthers (Video)
New Jersey Devils forward Stephen Gionta is listed at 5-foot-7 and 180 pounds, which is as generous as his brother Brian of the Canadiens being listed at 5-7 and 174.
Naturally, Gionta went flying over the boards into the Florida Panthers bench when hit by Dmitry Kulikov on Saturday afternoon. That’s when T.J. Brennan of the Panthers decided to be, ahem, "helpful" to his little friend:
Oh, that’s just sneaky right there: Brennan gave Gionta a shove as the Devil climbed back over the boards. No penalty on the play.
Gionta and the Devils had the last laugh in a 6-2 victory that saw him score a goal and an assist with a plus-2, while Kulikov was a minus-3 and Brennan was a minus-1.
